The exhibition In Frequencies We Cannot Name: Language, Sound, Silence, curated by Rita Ouédraogo, opens on March 7, 2026, at the Brakke Grond in Amsterdam.
The exhibition brings together the work of fifteen artists from the Mu.ZEE collection in a new context, thereby sparking new perspectives. With her selection, Ouédraogo aims to explore how language, sound, and silence function as carriers of power, history, and resistance. The opening marks the start of a polyphonic public program, which unfolds in three parts over the duration of the exhibition. The program offers space for multiple perspectives and non-dominant forms of knowledge transfer, in which listening, resonance, and opacity are central.
In this context, De Brakke Grond is working closely with the Warmoes Biennale, an initiative that brings art and performance to the (semi-)public spaces of the city center and celebrates its rich history, cultural wealth, diversity, and resilience together with residents, organizations, and visitors. The opening of the exhibition ties in with the Warmoes Biennale's festive opening parade ‘Through The Neighbourhood’. Read more here.
