Luc Schaltin studeerde fotografie en werkte als technisch directeur voor kunstencentrum STUC en dansfestival Klapstuk in Leuven en werkte daarna meer dan 20 jaar als licht- en geluidstechnicus in het Kaaitheater. Als freelance lichtontwerper legde hij een indrukwekkend en internationaal parcours af in zowel theater, dans, opera als muziek. Hij heeft een langdurige samenwerking met Jan Decorte, voor wie hij maar liefst 23 lichtontwerpen maakte. Ook ontwierp hij al voor Kris Verdonck, Tine Van Aerschot en Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Bl!ndman, Zita Swoon en vele anderen. In 2013 startte hij zijn samenwerking met Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker: In 2018 stond hij in voor het licht van de opera Orfeo & Majnun, met première in De Munt en een Europese tournee. Sinds 2020 werkt Schaltin met verschillende jonge kunstenaars, onder wie Hannah De Meyer, Khadija El Kharraz Alami, Enkidu Khaled en Tom Goossens.

Luc Schaltin studied photography and worked as technical director for arts centre STUC and dance festival Klapstuk in Leuven. Afterwards, he gained more than 20 years of experience as a lighting and sound technician at the Kaaitheater. As a freelance lighting designer, he made an impressive and international career in theatre, dance, opera and music. He has a longstanding collaboration with Jan Decorte, for whom he made no fewer than 23 lighting designs. He has also designed for Kris Verdonck, Tine Van Aerschot and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Bl!ndman, Zita Swoon and many others. In 2013, he started his collaboration with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. In 2018, he was in charge of lighting for the opera Orfeo & Majnun, premiering at De Munt and touring Europe. Since 2020, Schaltin has worked with several young artists, including Hannah De Meyer, Khadija El Kharraz Alami, Enkidu Khaled and Tom Goossens.
