As we witness the violent eradication of some of the world’s most ancient cultures, Samah Hijawi asks: what communities of plants and other beings are disappearing, in addition to the human loss? What traditions are being lost within communities and what stories from the past can we still pass down to future society?
Samah Hijawi is a multimedia artist who explores ancient and contemporary food cosmologies. In this performance, she invites you to eat olives and embody Saturn in one bite. As you do so, you will discover how our ancestors told the human story in the context of pluriversal cosmologies.
