After notallwhowanderarelost (2014) and Liedje voor Gigi (2018), Benjamin Verdonck has created a choreography for life-sized figures, an unusual planetarium made out of adhesive tape, strings and cardboard.
‘Things’ have played an important role in Benjamin Verdonck’s theatre work for some time now. But whereas previously he acted as a sceneshifter who manipulated these objects, forms and planes and then gave them a voice, now it is the things that monopolize centre stage and contest the role of the actor.
a diorama
of the entire world
a grand magic showbox
it is a sad song
about human beings and the things that surround them
although the moon
(which also plays a role)
remains quite indifferent to it all
oh! you shall see vat you shall see
