Richtje Reinsma schrijft, tekent en maakt (geluids)installaties en performances. Haar werk is beschouwelijk, lichtvoetig en persoonlijk. Vaak vormen kwetsbare en intieme ervaringen van alledag haar uitgangspunt. Ook haar materialen zijn kwetsbaar of vluchtig (stemmen, geuren, papier, moedermelk, schoonmaakdoekjes).
Taal vormt een belangrijke pijler van Richtje werk, zowel gesproken als geschreven. Ze maakt geluidservaringen en schrijft kort proza en artikelen over kunst en cultuur.
Richtje werkt zowel solitair als in samenwerking met collega-kunstenaars. Naast samenwerkingen op projectbasis is ze mede-oprichter van, en deelnemer aan kunstenaarsinitiatieven Het Harde Potlood en De Parasiet.
Op dit moment organiseert Richtje samen met Lucette ter Borg het intergenerationele onderzoeksprogramma 'Settling Care’ op uitnodiging van unsettling Rietveld Sandberg. Gedurende drie maanden verkennen studenten, stafleden en alumni van de Rietveld Academie en het Sandberg Instituut samen met belangstellenden van buiten de opleidingen uiteenlopende relaties tussen kunst en zorg, waarbij wekelijks een andere kunstenaar te gast is.
Richtje Reinsma writes, draws and makes installations and performances. Her work is contemplative, light-footed and personal, often taking vlunerable, intimate everyday experiences as its starting point, derived from her own life and those of others. The materials she uses are also vulnerable (paper, mother’s milk, sticks), leaving visible traces of seeking, sketching and manual work.
Language is a major pillar of Reinsma’s work. She writes both short prose and articles on art and culture, and was nominated for the Prijs voor de Jonge Kunstkritiek 2014 (in the reviews category). From 2010-2013, she created true stories for the award-winning radio programme Plots (VPRO). Language – whether spoken or written – is also a major element of Reinsma’s visual work. Sometimes this is integral to the making process, formed in part by conversations and interviews; sometimes as a medium. Reinsma works both solo and in collaboration with other artists. Alongside a collaborator on specific projects, she is co-founder of and a participant in artists’ initiatives Het Harde Potlood and De Parasiet.
Richtje is currently organizing the intergenerational research program 'Settling Care' together with Lucette ter Borg at the invitation of unsettled Rietveld Sandberg. For three months, students, staff and alumni of the Rietveld Academy and the Sandberg Institute will explore various relationships between art and care together with interested parties from outside the courses, with a different artist as guest every week.
