Bregje Hofstede debuteerde in 2014 met de roman De hemel boven Parijs, die werd genomineerd voor o.a. de Libris Literatuur Prijs, de Anton Wachterprijs en de Gouden Boekenuil. Haar tweede roman Drift (2018), ‘vlijmscherp’ (Volkskrant) en ‘genadeloos’ (Trouw), haalde de shortlist van de Libris Literatuur Prijs 2019. Daarnaast publiceerde ze de essaybundel De herontdekking van het lichaam: over de burn-out (2016) en het non-fictie boek Slaap vatten: hoe een slapeloze de nacht terugwon (2020), evenals het wandelverhaal Bergje (2021), de pornografische novelle December (2022) en Oersoep (2023).

Ze is actief binnen XR en is mede-oprichter van feministische actiegroep De Bovengrondse en Stichting Nationaal Heksenmonument.

Bregje Hofstede made her debut in 2014 with the novel The Sky over Paris (De hemel boven Parijs), which was nominated for awards including the Libris Literatuur Prijs, the Anton Wachterprijs and the Gouden Boekenuil. Her second novel Drift (2018) – ‘razor-sharp’ (Volkskrant) and ‘ruthless’ (Trouw) – made the shortlist for the Libris Literatuur Prijs 2019. In addition, her collection of essays The Rediscovering of Body: on burn-out (De herontdekking van het lichaam: over de burn-out) (2016) has been published, as well as her non-fiction book In Search of Sleep: An Insomniac’s Quest to Understand the Science, Psychology, and Culture of Sleeplessness (Slaap vatten: hoe een slapeloze de nacht terugwon (2020), the walking story Mountain (Bergje) (2021) and the pornographic novella December (2022). She is active within XR and is a co-founder of feminist activist platform De Bovengrondse and of the foundation Stichting Nationaal Heksenmonument (Wiches monument).
