Cooking workshops in preparation for the end of the world
Can you save the world from the kitchen? Determined not to be gripped by climate anxiety, theater maker Sien Vanmaele searches for answers to climate change from her kitchen.
She engages in conversations with seaweed harvesters, microbiologists, saline farmers, and seed collectors. She attempts to live without packaging, cultivate mushrooms in her pantry, and establishes a micro seed bank.
Sien undertakes this fieldwork for the creation of three new sensory performances: ZEEMAAL, LANDMAAL, and LUCHTMAAL.
Especially for Beyond the Black Box, she already shares results from her research for the performance LUCHTMAAL. She delves into the theme of seeds and, in the form of a sensory performance, invites you to smell, feel, and taste these seeds for the future.
This sensorial performance is spoken in Dutch.
