As part of BANKET and the performance Badke(remix), in which the love of dance is presented as a form of resistance, De Brakke Grond is organizing a fundraiser for Palestinian theatre organisation ASHTAR. Since 1991, ASHTAR has been inspiring young people with intensive theater training that not only develops acting talent, but also strengthens leadership, communication, and self-confidence. They work from Ramallah and Gaza as their main locations, and also work with remote communities. In collaboration with artists Samah Hijawi, Sadrie Alves, Hussein Shikha, and Brahim Tall, artworks and posters by artists involved with the Brakke Grond will be on sale during BANKET.
Purchase an exclusive silkscreen print by Hussein Shikha and Sadrie Alves for €40, a unique photograph by Brahim Tall for €180, or one of four artworks by Samah Hijawi in which she reproduced the titles of works by Palestinian artists from the 1960s to the 1990s (€250, edition 1/1).
The Za'tar posters that Samah Hijawi created during her research into the popular spice mixture are available for €12.
