BANKET is back! On Friday September 19th, we invite you once again to discover the new Brakke Grond cultural season with us. The program includes a spectacular dance performance, work in progress of one of our residents and of course a banquet full of edible delicacies.
Central to BANKET this year is the performance Badke(remix) by laGeste and Stereo48. This performance is a reworking of the dance performance Badke featuring 10 Palestinian dancers, that toured worldwide between 2013 and 2016. The re-release of Badke is now artistically in Palestinian hands, with choreographers Amir Sabra and Ata Khatab at the helm, and becomes Badke(remix). The starting point for this performance is the dabke, a Palestinian folk dance traditionally reserved for (wedding) celebrations. Badke(remix) showcases a lust for life and explores dance as a form of resistance. After the performance, the dancers and choreographers will speak to the audience during a Q&A session.
In addition to this dance performance, Nikima Jagudajev - who is in residence in de Brakke Grond during BANKET - shares work in progress from their research. Amsterdam based culinary collective Maison Dante will provide the snacks making up our edible banquet. And also on the programme is the launch of our brand new Brakke Grond magazine!
