Onkruid by Wildgroei Coven - the collective made up of Céline Gaza and Rose-Myrtha Fortuna Vercammen - examines the role of the spectator vis-à-vis theatre and blurs the boundaries between theatre and ritual in a collective prayer for love, female liberation and responsibility for the earth. The performance also questions how sisterhood can be practised in patriarchal contexts, particularly through an afrocentric lens. Art is prayer!
Goddesses dream when they bleed is an interdisciplinary performance that combines choreography, sound and visual art, inviting us to acknowledge the uncompensated labor of our mothers, grandmothers, our grandmothers’ mothers and those who came before them. Inspired by the age-old act of women washing clothes, this project explores the intimate and vulnerable relationship between women reclaiming their bodies, power and space. Washing, wearing and twisting clothes until they become a weapon. In a space formed by washing lines, white sheets and sound equipment, two bodies delve into the physical heaviness of domestic labor and reveal rhythms, body and space transformations.
